인천에서 처음으로 부평구가 오는 10월부터 폐LED 조명 재활용사업을 시범 추진한다.
이번 사업은 그동안 폐LED 조명이 종량제 봉투에 버려져 소각되고 있는 문제점을 해결하고자 마련된 것으로, 최근 들어 형광등 대신 LED 조명기구 사용이 급속하게 늘어나고 있지만 폐LED조명에 대한 회수나 재활용 체계 및 관련 규정이 없어 재활용이 어려운 상황이었다.
이에 따라 부평구는 폐LED조명 재활용 전문 업체와의 협의를 통해 재활용사업을 추진하기로 결정했다.
폐LED조명 배출은 폐형광등 수거와 마찬가지로 동 행정복지센터나 공동주택단지에 설치된 폐형광등 수거함에 배출하면 된다.
구는 배출된 폐LED조명을 수거해 폐형광등과 분리 및 선별 작업을 하고, 재활용업체는 무상으로 수거한 후 자체 해체 및 특허 기술을 활용해 유가금속 추출 및 장난감 조명 등으로 재활용하게 된다.
구 관계자는 “이번 시범 사업으로 부평구의 폐LED 조명 배출량을 파악해 향후 생활쓰레기 감량화 및 재활용률을 높이는데 기반을 마련할 방침”이라며 “자원순환 및 환경보호에 주민들의 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁한다”고 말했다.

Recently, the use of LED lighting fixtures instead of fluorescent lamps is rapidly increasing, but there is no collection or recycling system for waste LED lighting, and there is no related regulation for recycling. It was a difficult situation.
Accordingly, Bupyeong-gu decided to promote the recycling business through consultation with a company specializing in recycling waste LED lighting.
Waste LED lighting can be discharged to the waste fluorescent lamp collection box installed in the administrative welfare center or apartment complex, similar to the waste fluorescent lamp collection.
The district collects the discharged waste LED lights, separates them from the waste fluorescent lights, and sorts them, and the recycling company collects them free of charge, and then recycles them as valuable metal extraction and toy lighting using their own dismantling and patented technology.
A former official said, “With this pilot project, we plan to establish the basis for reducing household waste and increasing the recycling rate in the future by grasping the amount of waste LED lighting in Bupyeong-gu. We ask for a lot of interest and participation from residents in resource recycling and environmental protection.” said.
